Explanation of E-Pals Project
NOTE:
E-Pals was NOT created by Tredyffrin-Easttown School District.
-
Part of the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District mission is to prepare
our students and staff to
flourish in a global context.
-
We started this E-Pals Project to allow students
the opportunity to utilize technology to form a pen pal relationship via email
with various Spanish speaking students in Pennsylvania.
-
This
was a chance to work with the computer, to practice Spanish, and to realize that
in today's world one does not even have to leave his or her own County to
encounter those of many cultures and languages.
-
As a part of the third
grade social studies curriculum, students learn about Pennsylvania. This
allowed a unique opportunity for the Spanish curriculum to support the social
studies curriculum and vice versa.
-
The correspondence was conducted entirely via email and in
Spanish only.
-
The letters below are a sample of the E-Pal Exchange between
Lora
Jo Dickhart's Spanish class at New Eagle Elementary School and a professor
at Valley Forge Military.
