Welcome to music at Valley Forge Elementary! My name is Mr. Christopher Nation, and I am the music teacher at Valley Forge this year. We have an exciting year planned of making music and having fun! If you are interested in joining band, chorus, or orchestra, please click the link below. Chorus and orchestra are open to students in 3rd and 4th grade, and band is open to 4th graders only. Chorus meets before school on Thursdays at 7:55 AM. Band lessons are on Days 2 and 6, and orchestra lessons are on Day 3. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. The Arts are crucial to every child's education! Children who sing in choruses get better grades then their counterparts who have never sung in a choir, according to a recent study commissioned by Chorus America. The 2009 study also suggests that students who sing have better self-confidence, self-disipline, and memory than those who do not.
We have an outstanding chorus this year! Any third or fourth grader, who loves to sing may join our Fall Chorus.
We also have a great group of band and string students this year. Everyone shoud be practicing their instrument at least 10-20 minutes a day.
All third graders and fourth graders will play recorders in general music every class period. The recorders are furnished by the TE School Board.
