Search Engines

Search engines are databases of millions and millions of pages, gathered by computer programs, often called robots of spiders, to match search terms. No humans are involved in the selection, sorting, evaluation or organization of these sites. They allow for broad and often overwhelming searches. They can be quite comprehensive (Google claims to have over 4 billion web pages in its database).
