Rehearsal Attendance

Since rehearsals play a large part in our growth as an ensemble, it is important that students not miss rehearsals.  If missing a rehearsal is unavoidable, please communicate this to the appropriate teacher as soon as possible.  With student safety being a top priority, it is important that we know where the students are at all times.  Please contact the appropriate teacher so that we can ensure all students are accounted for.

Performances

Performances are an opportunity to share our hard work and success with the community.  Since each individual performer plays a unique and important role within the ensemble, we all rely on each other to be present at every performance.  If missing a performance is unavoidable, please contact the appropriate teacher.

 

Performance attire for all ensembles will be:
Long Sleeved, plain white collared shirt (tucked in)
Long black dress slacks
Black socks/stockings & black dress shoes

Grading

Students will receive a grade of O, S, or U each marking period based on musical achievement/progress, preparation, and behavior/attitude.


Sectionals

Sectionals are groups of students with like instruments or vocal parts rehearsing together each week in addition to the full ensemble rehearsal.  Sectionals are important because they teach the musicianship skills that are required to properly perform within a section.

While we feel sectionals are extremely important to both individual and ensemble growth, we want to ensure that music is not interfering with anyone’s academic success.  We are aware and understand that there will sometimes be conflicts with the assigned sectional time and academic requirements, such as tests, labs, or meeting with other teachers for extra help.  In the event of a genuine conflict, please take advantage of the scheduled make-up sectionals.  Band and orchestra make-up sectionals will take place every Tuesday and Thursday during activity periods.  Chorus make-up sectionals will take place as indicated on the rehearsal schedules below.

7th and 8th grade chorus sectionals meet during activity period according to the following schedule:

Make-up sectionals

Band and orchestra sectionals take place throughout the school day on a rotating schedule to ensure that students do not miss the same 30 minutes two weeks in a row.  Band and orchestra sectional schedules will be distributed to the students monthly throughout the school year.
