About the Teacher
When I’m not teaching, you can find me reading, creating, or exploring with my husband and our dog. I love to cheer for the Eagles and the Phillies!
I have my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Elementary Education from West Chester University, and I have been fortunate to teach at Hillside since 2001.
This is my dog, Maggie!
Volunteering
- If you are available once or twice a month, you can be a Workshop Helper.
- If you have state-mandated clearances, you may offer to chaperone our field trip.
- If you can’t join us in the classroom, there are opportunities to help out from home.

Classroom Supply List
Pencils, crayons, markers, scissors, and glue are provided in the classroom. Tool bins will be provided in the classroom for students to store their own supplies for personal use.
Students should also bring:
- A backpack large enough to hold a standard folder and school projects;
- A large box of tissues;
- Optional: Headphones for use with school technology (traditional headphones work better than ear-bud styles)

Classroom Celebrations
Birthdays (and half-birthdays for kids with summer birthdays) are important milestones, and many kids like to share a special treat with their classmates. Your child is welcome to bring in stickers, pencils, or other small, inexpensive items to hand out to classmates. Students may not bring in food items to share.
The PTO provides three classroom parties each year, at Halloween, Winter Break, and Valentine’s Day. To ensure consistency among classrooms, we ask families to not send in additional treats.
In late May, kindergarten families and guests will be invited to join us for the Teddy Bear Picnic. This is our year-end celebration. We do not have a kindergarten graduation.

Daily Schedule
In T/E, we follow a six-day schedule. We focus on language arts, math, science and pro-social lessons. Story time, calendar and weather activities, and snack/recess occur daily. Click here to return to our class homepage to find links to each class' special area schedule.
Cycle days are not skipped for holidays, in-service days, or snow days. Since 1st – 4th grades are in session, Kindergarten will skip cycle days following parent-teacher conferences. The online Cycle Day Calendar is updated throughout the year as needed.

Homework
Homework is not a routine part of our kindergarten program. I recommend reading and talking about stories with your child often. As we introduce and review letters and sounds, your child will be asked to find or create pictures for our Letters of the Week activities. Information on special projects will be sent home occasionally. Typically, your child will have at least a week to complete these assignments.

Communication
Please check your child’s folder daily for mail, and put all notes and/or forms for school in your child’s folder. Our classroom newsletter will be sent home each Friday, to keep you updated on our activities for the week, and to provide information on upcoming events. I occasionally send reminders or last minute information through a group e-mail. You can find lots of information here on our class website, which is updated throughout the year.

Classroom Rules and Expectations
Room 224 has one class rule:
Be Kind!
- Be Kind! to other kids and adults;
- Be Kind! to our materials, classroom, and school;
- Be Kind! to yourself
You will hear about Bucket-Filling, The 7 Habits of Happy Kids, and Ticket Banks. Kids who do what is expected earn tickets, which can be traded in to spin our prize wheel. Consequences, when necessary, will be as closely related to the child’s behavior choices as possible.
