4th Graders are learning about anamorphic perspective. This type of perspective follows the rules of drawing in perspective, but morphs the image(s). Students looked at the artwork of Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper as a review of classic one-point perspective drawing. They also looked at contemporary artists, such as Sabrine Khan who is a living artist working with anamorphic design, for inspiration. Many noted that M.C. Escher's work, which is featured on the walls of several classrooms, also demonstrates anamorphic design.
4th Graders also experimented with using wire as a medium to create human profiles and figures. We looked at the artwork of American artist Alexander Calder and contemporary German Artist Martin Seen for inspiration.
