We participated in Hour of Code, a worldwide initiave to motive and teach coding skills at all levels. During our hour, we played Kodable. each child has an account linked to our class, and can continue to play via the website, and on apps for both iPad and Android.

Alphabet Song
We learned this song as an introduction to our Letter of the Week. The kids picked up on the beat, and were singing along in no time!

Coin Games
In kindergarten, we focus on naming coins. During our visit to the computer lab, we focused on the Coin Identification games. Kids who did well on those games were encouraged to explore the games that involve counting values of coins.

We visited the computer lab and played games to practice counting coins. The children were able to select from a variety of games chosen to meet a variety of interest and skill levels. -

Snakes and Ladders
Based on the popular "Chutes and Ladders" board game, Snakes and Ladders gives students practice in indentifying numbers (represented as dots on a die) and in counting the correct number of spaces to move a token. There are many versions of this game available online. I like this one because the child has to correctly count spaces, and carefully consider which way to move the token, identifying higher and lower numbers.
