About the Community
The T/E School District serves the townships of Tredyffrin and Easttown, encompassing 38 square miles in eastern Chester County. The area includes the communities of Paoli, Devon, Berwyn, Daylesford, Chesterbrook, Strafford, and Wayne.
Historically, T/E and the surrounding area, known as the Great Valley, were settled by Welsh Quakers who purchased the land from William Penn. Valley Forge National Park is adjacent to Tredyffrin Township and lends a richness of tradition to the area.
Support services are available throughout the community. The Upper Main Line YMCA provides recreational activities, including year-round tennis and swimming. Residents of both townships are served by active park and recreation boards, which sponsor summer day camps, sports clinics, and winter recreation programs. Local community parks offer playgrounds, basketball courts, tennis courts, and baseball fields. The Tredyffrin Library, the Easttown Library, and the smaller Paoli Library are part of the Chester County Library System, and their many services are free to residents. The Main Line School Night and the Chester County Intermediate Unit's Center for Arts and Technology offer adult training and vocational education. In addition, T&E Care, a non-profit organization devoted to helping local families in need, is comprised of community members who want to make a difference in the lives of others.
FLITE, Foundation for Learning in Tredyffrin/Easttown, partners with the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District to help all district students reach their potential. FLITE recognizes that some children lack the financial, emotional, and environmental support needed to succeed in school. FLITE aims to invest in helping these students and, in doing so, invest in the good of our entire community. FLITE also recognizes that the school district faces increasing pressure to adequately fund its programs and will consider proposals to support programs or activities that enhance the school district's total offerings.
ARCH, Area Residents Caring and Helping, is a community group established in 1981 by parents in the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District to assist, educate, and support one another in addressing substance abuse among young people in the community. ARCH sponsors parent workshops, offers educational programs for children, and works closely with the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District Administration to provide student services and resources to combat substance abuse.
BUILD, Better Understanding of Individuals with Learning Differences, is a group of parents and professionals in the T/E School District who formed a support group for parents of children with learning differences. Meetings are held during the school year, provide useful information, and create opportunities for discussions on various topics.
