    Erase COVID-19 In Our Schools

Tredyffrin/Easttown School District Urges Prioritization of COVID-19 Vaccine for School Employees

TESD joins other school districts in Chester and Delaware Counties, and across the nation, who are eager for their staff to have the opportunity to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. Unfortunately, vaccine availability for our staff has been limited. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) COVID-19 Data Tracker recently indicated that Pennsylvania falls significantly behind other states in distributing the vaccine. We have been actively engaging with our legislators at the state and federal level to communicate the urgency in increasing access to the vaccine for all education workers, and we are asking you to join us in this effort.

One of our primary goals is to see education workers at all levels placed in the 1A priority group during the vaccination rollout. All of our staff members, from bus drivers to teachers to instructional aides to cafeteria and custodial workers, play a critical role in educating our students and maintaining the operation of our schools. In addition to increasing eligibility for the vaccine, we are asking our legislators to assist in increasing the vaccine supply for our county and our school district. Currently, there are not enough vaccines available to vaccinate all T/E staff members who wish to receive one. Finally, TESD is willing and able to offer our facilities as vaccination sites – both for our own staff members and the community at large. We are simply waiting for the opportunity to do so.

In order to keep our schools running and operating for in-person instruction, school districts need a healthy staff. Please consider contacting your legislators and urge them to take action and prioritize the distribution of the vaccine to all education workers. We are including a sample letter that can be personalized with your information as well as contact information for the legislators and state health officials. The Chester County Intermediate Unit has also created an #EducationIsEssential flyer that outlines how you can help.

Thank you in advance for partnering with us as we advocate for increased vaccine availability and distribution to all education staff.
