Apply for the Redistricting Steering Committee
As the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District prepares for the opening of Bear Hill Elementary School in August 2027, the District is moving into the next phase of the elementary redistricting process and is seeking parent and guardian volunteers to serve on the Redistricting Steering Committee. The application period to serve on the Committee opens today and runs through the end of the day on April 24.
A Meaningful Way to Support TESD
The Redistricting Steering Committee will be responsible for developing and recommending a redistricting plan that redraws elementary school attendance boundaries to support balanced enrollment and the effective use of District facilities. Serving on the Committee offers parents and guardians an opportunity to contribute to an important District initiative, represent family and community perspectives, and support a transparent, student‑focused planning process.
Redistricting Steering Committee Composition
- 1 administrative staff liaison
- 10 parents and/or guardians
- 1 external facilitator
- Observers, such as School Board members or District staff, as appropriate
Applicant Requirements and Selection Process
Parent/guardian members of the Redistricting Steering Committee must:
- Be residents of the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District, and
- Meet one of the following criteria:
- Have a child currently enrolled in grades K–2 in a TESD school, or
- Have a child currently enrolled in grades 3–4 in a TESD school and a child not yet school age
Please note that only one participant per TESD student household will be considered.
Committee members will be randomly selected from an applicant pool to achieve balanced representation across the District’s elementary attendance areas.
The selection process seeks to include:
- Two parents/guardians from each current elementary attendance area
- Balanced representation from Hillside families assigned to both middle schools, if possible
- One alternate parent/guardian per attendance area
Timeline and Meeting Expectations
The application window for the Redistricting Steering Committee will be open from April 6 through April 24, with selected members notified during the week of May 4.
Selected Committee members should expect to:
- Attend a brief introductory meeting prior to the end of the 2025–26 school year
- Attend weekly meetings beginning in Fall 2026 and continuing until the redistricting process is completed
- Adhere to the Committee norms
- Maintain confidentiality
