Redistricting Steering Committee
The District is moving into the next phase of its elementary redistricting process by forming a Redistricting Steering Committee. This Committee will be responsible for developing and recommending a redistricting plan that redraws elementary school attendance boundaries to support balanced enrollment and the effective use of District facilities. The Redistricting Steering Committee’s work will build on the established redistricting parameters and will include School Board review and opportunities for community feedback.
Charge of the Committee
The Redistricting Steering Committee is charged with developing and recommending an elementary redistricting plan that aligns with the School Board‑approved redistricting parameters. The Committee’s work will result in a proposed redistricting plan that will be presented to the School Board for review, discussion at public meetings, and final approval. Community input will be an important part of this process as the work progresses.
Committee Composition
The Redistricting Steering Committee will be comprised of:
- An administrative staff liaison
- 10 parents and/or guardians
- An external facilitator
- Observers, such as School Board members or District staff, as appropriate
An external facilitator will support the committee’s work to help ensure a structured, collaborative, and effective process.
Parent/Guardian Member Requirements
Parent/guardian members of the Redistricting Steering Committee must:
- Be residents of the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District, and
- Meet one of the following criteria:
- Have a child currently enrolled in grades K–2, or
- Have a child currently enrolled in grades 3–4 and a child not yet school age
Committee members will be randomly selected from an applicant pool to achieve balanced representation across the District’s elementary catchment areas. The selection process seeks to include:
- Two parents/guardians from each current elementary catchment area
- Balanced representation from Hillside families assigned to both middle schools, if possible
- One alternate parent/guardian per catchment area
- One participant per TESD student household
Timeline and Meeting Expectations
The application window to serve on the Redistricting Steering Committee will be open from April 6 through April 24, with selected members notified during the week of May 4.
Selected Committee members should expect:
- A brief introductory meeting prior to the end of the 2025–26 school year, and
- Weekly meetings beginning in Fall 2026 and continuing until the redistricting process is completed
Next Steps and Community Engagement
The District encourages families and community members to remain engaged as the redistricting process moves forward. Additional information about the Redistricting Steering Committee, the application process, timelines, and opportunities for public feedback will be shared on the District website, in TESD e‑newsletters, and through other established communication channels.
