Classroom Music Program
Music class is offered once per cycle for 45 minutes in first through fourth grades and 30 minutes in Kindergarten. At Beaumont we sing, dance, play instruments, and create music in all grade levels. When students move on from Beaumont, our goal is that they are prepared to be lifelong learners of music and have an appreciation for music of all varieties.
In third and fourth grades, students are eligible to participate in the instrumental music program here at Beaumont. Small group instruction takes place 30 minutes once per six-day cycle.
Third grade students may choose to play violin, viola, or cello and participate in the orchestra for the spring concert. Fourth grade students may choose to play violin, viola, or cello and participate in the orchestra for both the fall and spring concerts. Orchestra rehearses on Day 5 mornings from 8:00-8:40.
Fourth grade students may choose to play flute, clarinet, oboe, saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, baritone, or percussion. Students participate in lessons year-round and join the band for morning rehearsals in the second half of the year starting in January. The Band students will perform at the spring concert.
The Beaumont Grade Chorus is comprised of interested third and fourth grade students who enjoy singing and performing. We rehearse one morning per week from 8:15-9:00 throughout the school year and perform at both the fall and spring concerts and various community events. The chorus teacher will distribute a monthly rehearsal calendar to all performers indicating the practice days and times.
