    School Attendance

    Please report your child's absence daily by emailing the attendance office, specifically indicating "covid concern." Any absence due to covid concern will be considered an excused absence.

    Parameters

    • Absent students may voluntarily log in to observe and listen to the class session, but they will not be able to actively participate during class.  The teacher will not hear or call on the remote students. 
    • Teachers will use a fixed camera and the camera will not move during the lesson. 
    • Lesson materials may not be available through teacher screen-sharing during classroom instruction. Students may access classroom materials through Schoology or other established means. 
    • If all students are present in person, the remote camera will not be used for that session.  If no students are logged in within the first five minutes of class, the camera will be turned off. 
    • Cameras will only be used by the regular classroom teacher. Cameras will not be used by substitute teachers. 
    • Passive camera access will be available during whole group English language arts and math instruction at the elementary level, during core classes at the middle school level, and during most daily classes at the high school level. 
    • Passive virtual camera access will not count as attendance at school. Students not physically present in school will still be marked absent.

    Technical Information

    All students in Grades K-12 will need Schoology and Microsoft Teams to access their classes. Teachers will post their Teams meeting hyperlink on their Schoology course materials page and students will join the classroom meeting by clicking on the link. Access instructions by instructional level are listed below. Please Note: If you are waiting in a lobby for a meeting to begin, then your student is not logged into Microsoft Teams on the iPad or laptop. Teachers are instructed to not admit guests from the lobby. Please see access directions below on how to log into Microsoft Teams. Technical questions should be sent to familyhelpdesk@tesd.net.

    Technical Difficulties

    Technical issues may occur with the implementation of passive camera access system. Please contact the Family Help Desk with questions or concerns and in the meantime, access asynchronous materials made available by the teacher.

    Distance Learning Guidelines and Intellectual Property

    It is our expectation that any live instruction or content created by or on behalf of the District will be accessed solely for educational purposes and will not be downloaded, modified, altered, recorded, or reposted without the District’s prior consent.  

    This expectation is in place to protect the privacy of all participants, including staff, students, and their families.  Violations of this expectation will be addressed in accordance with the school Code of Conduct and will be subject to any applicable legal consequences.

    Specifically, regarding live audio and/or video conferences, the following guidelines apply:

    • Students, parents, and guardians shall not audio/video record lessons or provide access to these lessons or content to anyone other than the intended participant (e.g. student for instructional delivery).
    • Maintain the confidentiality of other students if your child is participating in a group lesson.  Do not share or transmit any aspect of the participation of other students.
    • Please contact your school administrator if you observe any behavior of concern.

     As stated in Board Policy 6163 (Intellectual Property - Ownership):

    “All intellectual property, including but not limited to, planned courses of study, educational programs, media productions or publications or other copyrightable material developed for curriculum use or otherwise on behalf of the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District by staff of the District remain the sole property of the District.”

    Additionally, the Acceptable Use Agreement, which is acknowledged annually by all District students and shared with parents annually as part of the back-to-school information, outlines acceptable use by  respecting and protecting the privacy and safety of others and themselves. Users must … "Not use any device, personal or otherwise, to record, store, or transmit any type of photo, audio, or video that in any way disrupts or disrespects the educational environment, extracurricular activities and events, or the privacy or dignity of others."


    Access Instructions

    Grades K-4

    All District iPads have a Schoology weblink and the Microsoft Teams app automatically installed. If the Teams app is missing, you may reinstall it from the Self Service app found on the iPad. All students must be logged into their Microsoft Teams app to join meetings. Please Note: If you are waiting in a lobby for a meeting to begin, then your student is not logged into Microsoft Teams on the iPad or laptop. Teachers are instructed to not admit guests from the lobby. Please see access directions below on how to log into Microsoft Teams.

    Log into Microsoft Teams & Schoology:
    1. Tap to enter the Microsoft Teams app on your iPad.
    2. Enter your Office 365 username and password and Sign In
    3. Tap on the Schoology weblink and log in with the same username and password.
              -Username will consist of your network user name (graduation year, last name, and first name initial) and @tesdk12.net.
              -Network password is the three-letter abbreviation for your school with first letter capitalized along with your Student ID#.
               For example, Jane Brown is in 2nd grade at Beaumont. Her username would be 32brownj@tesdk12.net and her network password would be Bes#######.

    Please Note: Both Teams & Schoology will store the credentials for future use. 

    Access the Passive Camera Meeting Link to Join the Virtual Meeting:
    1. Once you are logged into Schoology, tap on the Courses menu at the top. 
    2. Tap on your Core or Math course. The Core class will be named Homeroom or Language Arts. Your teacher will communicate which will be hosting the Passive Camera Meeting link. 
    3. On the Materials page, a Passive Camera Meeting hyperlink will be posted (near the top). Tap on the link.
    4. The Microsoft Teams app should launch. If you remain in the Schoology viewer, tap the arrow out icon in the top, right corner of the window. 
    5. Tap Join meeting in the Teams app window. The virtual meeting will launch. Be sure your speaker icon is turned on.
    6. When the class is over, your teacher will automatically end the meeting. You may tap Leave to exit sooner. 


    Grades 5-12

    All District laptops have the Microsoft Teams app installed and students will be automatically logged into their account. BYOD students may download and install the Teams app. All students must be logged into their Microsoft Teams app to join meetings. See below for directions. 

    Access the Passive Camera Meeting Link to Join the Virtual Meeting:
    1. Visit Schoology (https://schoology.tesd.net) and log in with your Office 365 credentials.
    2. Click on the Courses menu and click into your period class.
    3. On the Materials page, a Passive Camera Meeting hyperlink will be posted (near the top). Click on the link.
    4. A pop-up window will launch prompting you to open the Microsoft Teams app. Click Open. The Teams app will open. 
    5. Tap Join meeting in the Teams app window. The virtual meeting will launch. Be sure your speaker icon is turned on. Your mic and camera will be disabled. 
    6. When the class is over, your teacher will automatically end the meeting. You may click Leave to exit sooner. 


    Personal Devices

    Students may access Schoology and Microsoft Teams from any computer. Once students log into the TESD Schoology website (https://schoology.tesd.net) and click on the Teams meeting link in a course, a webpage will open. Students may cancel the Teams pop-up window and choose either Continue on this browser to open the meeting in the Internet browser window OR Download Teams to install the Microsoft Teams app onto the computer.
