Additional Information Regarding Emergency Closing Days

TESD was approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) to utilize up to five Flexible Instructional Days (FIDs) beginning this school year as an alternate option for providing instruction if circumstances such as inclement weather prevent standard instructional formats. This year, PDE allowed schools with virtual instruction programs to follow their regular virtual schedules on days when school buildings were closed due to emergencies. The 2020-2021 District calendar approved in September 2020 includes five FIDs as part of the emergency closing make-up day schedule. As of February 18, 2021, TESD used the five FIDs in the form of virtual instructional days when school buildings were closed due to inclement weather. Should there be additional emergency closing days occur during the 2020-2021 school year, in accordance with the District-approved calendar, TESD will have traditional emergency closing days, or “snow days”, and make up the instructional days following the schedule below:

Days 1-5: Flexible Instructional Days (used with the virtual instructional schedule for five inclement weather building closure days through February 18, 2021)

Day 6: June 14, 2021 (used for emergency closing day on February 19, 2021)

Day 7: June 15, 2021

Day 8: June 16, 2021

Day 9: June 17, 2021

Day 10: June 18, 2021

Should additional emergency closing days be necessary, we will update the District calendar on the TESD website and include details about emergency closing make-up days in school and District communications.
