T/E School Board Adopts 2023-2024 Budget Resolution

At its meeting on January 3, 2023, the Tredyffrin/Easttown Board of School Directors adopted a resolution limiting any increase in property taxes for the 2023-2024 fiscal year to at or below the Act 1 index of 4.1%. As a result, the Board will not consider any referendum exceptions to the Act 1 index and will follow a timeline that has the final adoption of the 2023-2024 budget in June. The 2023-2024 budget presented on January 3, 2023, shows a $8.9M budgeted operational deficit that the Board and administration will work to close through a combination of increases in the property tax rate, expenditures reductions or the use of existing reserves. The Board will not vote on a specific tax rate until its June meeting.

The next opportunity for discussion of the 2023-2024 budget will be at the upcoming January 9, 2023 Finance Committee meeting at 7:00 pm at the Tredyffrin/Easttown Administration Offices.  The meeting will be recorded and will be available on the TESD website. The Board will also hold two Budget Workshops on March 13, 2023 and April 10, 2023 immediately following the Finance Committee Meetings at 7:00 pm at Conestoga High School. Additional budget development information is available in the budget section of the District website at www.tesd.net/budget.

The Board will continue to deliberate the budget and property tax rate increase until final adoption in June. The T/E School Board encourages public participation during the budget development process and endeavors to reflect the input of joint stakeholders. All School Board committee meetings are open to the public and have public comment periods. Meeting dates and agendas are available on the T/E School District website. In addition, public comments may be submitted to Arthur J. McDonnell, Business Manager, or to the T/E School Board.
