And now a message from your Student Council.

Hi! I’m Chase from Student Council here to talk to you about PINK DAY!

Our 18th annual PINK DAY will be next Thursday, October 14th.  PINK DAY is the day we come together as a community to show our support for those who are dealing with cancer in their lives. We wear PINK from head-to-toe to show our support for one another and to show we care.  We also try to raise money for Ryan’s Case for Smiles. This organization makes colorful and fun pillowcases for children dealing with life-threatening illnesses all over the country. This organization was started by a family in our school district.

We have our own TEMS PINK DAY shirts that you can buy for $12 each. They will be available to buy next Monday through Wednesday mornings outside the auditorium. Next Thursday on our actual PINK DAY you can buy a shirt, or to add pink in another way, you can buy a pink ribbon pin for $1 each or a sticker on which you can write the name of a family member or friend who has battled or is currently battling cancer. These also cost $1 each. During all activity periods on PINK DAY we will sell donuts for $2 each and soft pretzels and juice for $1 each outside the gym on the side of the building until we sell out.

All proceeds from our PINK DAY will go to Ryan’s Case for Smiles!!!

Student Council is asking you to donate $1 each to help build our Wall of Smiles.  If you donate $1 you can write a nice note to a child in a local hospital.  We will be posting the Smile Notes on the bulletin board in the main hallway and our hope is to fill the entire bulletin board.  We will take a picture of the filled “Wall of Smiles” and then send that to our local hospital with the Smile Notes.  We will be selling Smiles this Friday, October 8th before school outside the auditorium. We also will be selling them next Monday through Wednesday before school outside the auditorium and on PINK DAY.  Thank you to all who participate in this.

There will be a 5th grade HR rep meeting this Friday in the Large Group Room at 8 am.  At least one of the two HR Reps from each 5th grade HR should attend.  Both are welcome!  We will talk about what is means to be a HR Rep and upcoming Student Council school events.

Our spirit day for October is Costume Day and will be on Friday, October 29th.  Students can wear your Halloween costume of just orange and black to school that day.  Those who participate will be able to enter a raffle for a prize.  Just a reminder that we are still required to wear a mask over our nose and mouths for health reasons, but you cannot wear a mask that covers your entire face during the school day.  You also cannot bring in a weapon as part of your costume.

That’s all the iTEMS we have for today.
