    Art Club

    Grades 5-8

    Day: Grade 5-6: grades alternate every other Tuesday, Grade 7-8 alternate on Wednesdays

    Time: 3:10pm-4:30pm

    Drama Club - Fall

    Grades 7-8

    Fall Drama Club is open to 7th and 8th grade students, limited to 30 participants.  Students meet after school twice a week to take deep dive into the process of producing a theatrical production.  Students are involved throughout the process, learning and providing input in all aspects of the selected show, including auditions, casting, stage blocking, costuming and set/prop design.  The club begins the second week of September, and the culmination is a single performance in mid-November.

    Flower Show Club

    Grades 6-8

    GSA Club

    Grades 5-8

    All students are welcome to join the GSA, a student-led club. We seek to provide a safe, inclusive, and accepting learning environment where students support one another.

    Day: Friday, first of the month

    Time: 7:45 am – 8:15 am

    Location: Large Group Room

    Intramural Sports

    Grades 5-6

    After school sports is a time where students can engage in sports/activities that promote sportsmanship, self-direction and collaboration. It takes place in the fall, outside on the fields and in the large gym during inclement weather. 

    Days: Monday - Thursday

    Time: 3:20pm – 3:50pm

    Mathcounts

    Grade 6

    MATHCOUNTS for sixth grade is a math competition team in which students will compete in groups of four at a one-time county competition. The competition will be on a Saturday in March. Practices will take place November through March for any interested students. Practice will be before or after school and will be determined by student availability.

    Day: Monday, some additional days as the competition approaches

    Mathcounts

    Grades 7-8

    7th and 8th grade MATHCOUNTS meets in room 150 during period 4 twice per week. During our meetings, students work on problem solving strategies and skills through topic-based lessons and practices of the three types of MATHCOUNTS Competition events: Sprint, Target, and Team Rounds. Based upon the results of these practices and a practice competition, 12 students will be chosen to participate in the Chester County MATHCOUNTS Competition. MATHCOUNTS is currently planning to hold the competition the 1st Saturday of February. Parent permissions are required for participation in the actual Chester County Competition whether online or in-person; details will be provided later in the school year.

    Junior Model United Nations

    Grades 6-8

    Jr. Model UN Club gives students an opportunity to learn about international relations and global issues, while teaching them skills in researching, writing, public speaking, and diplomacy. Members will have the opportunity to meet students from other schools in the Greater Philadelphia area during 3 different virtual conferences. Along with Monday meetings, the group will also meet at 7:45am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and every other Thursday during 4th period activity.

    Musical Performance

    Grades 5-8

    The musical production is open to all grades 5 - 8.  Auditions typically occur in October and rehearsals occur from November through mid-March.  Students may choose to audition for the cast, or join the production stage crew, which will handle scene changes of set pieces and props. Crew rehearsals will occur from February through mid-March.  Students may also opt to assist in other areas of the production process, including set and prop building/creation, painting, and costuming.

    Speech & Debate Club

    Grade 8

    The speech and debate club’s purpose is to:

    •            Educate students about the art of speech and debate

    •            Teach students how to develop research, reasoning, organizational and essay writing skills

    •            Train students to be more confident speakers and debaters

    •            Help students build leadership skills and improve individual responsibility

    •            Teach students to work collaboratively

    Day:  2nd Monday morning of every month (with a possible second meeting later in the month)

    Robotics Club

    Grades 7-8

    Members of 7th and 8th Grade Robotics Club access online curriculum and apply their new-found knowledge to robot design using VEX EDR parts and components. Club members work in teams to build robots ready for intra-club competition in the spring at TEMS. Participation in this club requires collaboration, problem solving, individual research, focus, dedication, and commitment. Regular attendance is required.

    Time: 3:15pm – 5:00pm

    Interested students should see Mr. Broadhead (rm 205) IN PERSON to pick up a permission form.  Students should return the form in person to guarantee receipt. 

     

    Robotics Club Junior

    Grades 5-6

    Members of 5th and 6th Grade Junior Robotics Club learn to build and operate robots using VEX IQ parts and components. Club members will compete in an intra-club competition at the end of the Jr. Robotics session. (Approximately 6 to 8 weeks.) Participation in this club requires collaboration, problem solving, focus, dedication, and commitment. Regular attendance is required.

    Running Club **currently full for the fall season**

    Grades 6-8

    The Running Club provides students in grades 6-8 with an opportunity to improve their running skills and overall self-confidence while fostering a spirit of camaraderie within the training group.  Runs will take place in the local neighborhoods, on T/E fields, and on the Conestoga High School track. The program is designed to enable a novice runner to complete a 2 mile run by the end of the season.

    Due to the nature of the club and our concern for our runner's safety, I am asking athletes to commit themselves to the program and participate in a minimum of 3 out of 4 days per week.

    Study Buddies

    Grades 5-8

    Study Buddies offers an after school, quiet study environment with Conestoga students and adult support. Students who attend will be able to develop good study habits as they work alongside Conestoga students to complete homework assignments before leaving school for the day. Conestoga students serve as role models that practice good study habits and are available for basic homework help.

    Days: Monday-Thursday

    Time: 3:15pm- 4:15pm

    TV Studio

    Grades 5-8

    The TEMS Bulldog TV Studio is an opportunity for 5th – 8th grade students to participate in a daily TV broadcast to the students and faculty during their homerooms. This group meets every morning at 7:50 am, and sometimes during Activity period, with a rotating schedule of students to work that day’s broadcast. Through this experience students will get to learn the on-camera and off-camera responsibilities during a TV broadcast on industry standard equipment. This experience will prepare students for continued work at Conestoga with their TETV program. Students with TV Studio experience will be the ones to start the year as part of the morning broadcasts. Then as the year goes along, students that have not been part will be offered an opportunity to join the club.
