First Aid/Emergency Treatment/Activity Restrictions
Nurses are available full-time in all schools to provide first aid and support to students who become ill or injured only during the school day. Parents will be notified if further medical care is needed, so it is important that each child's emergency card is kept up to date at all times.
Injuries that occur outside of school hours should be evaluated by the student's health care provider or urgent care.
If your child has an injury or illness that will prevent them from participating in Physical Education class more than twice or any other school activity, a note is required from the doctor. A clearance letter from the health care provider is required to return to PE, sports and all school activities.
Parents who will be away from home for an extended period of time should notify the school nurse in writing of alternate emergency phone numbers and temporary guardians. All students diagnosed by a health care provider with a concussion must provide a clearance letter stating that they can return to physical education, sports, recess, field trips or any other school-sponsored activity.
