    Department Chair: Mrs. Karen Gately

The purpose of Conestoga’s English curriculum is to provide continued, concentrated instruction in written composition and oral communication, and literature studies:

Written Communication: The goal of instruction in composition is to help students develop confidence in their ability to express ideas effectively in writing. A research component is part of yearlong courses.

Oral Communication: Every student engages in a number of speech activities during each course.

Literature: In addition to thoughtful, critical analysis of literature, a major goal of the literature program is to acquaint students with their global literary heritage.
